Interview Preparation (Half Day) Workshop £535 + VAT
(total cost for the workshop)
The workshop can either be delivered to meet specific group needs or in redeployment exercises to bring longer serving staff up to date with interview technique - with a major focus on competency / behavioural based selection processes.
The workshop is for up to 10 people and incorporates an individual 1-2-1 with the course leader where a prepared scenario (workshop exercise) to a selected competency based question can be reviewed. Attendees don't enjoy role plays in the main, so the 1-2-1 review is where the attendee will go through their written scenario to the exercise with the course leader, in private, to gain feedback on the structure / content / and relevance of their scenario to the question selected, and not upon delivery style. Participation in the 1-2-1 review is optional and attendees can choose not to undertake this part of the workshop if preferred.
In a C.I.P.D. survey over 60% of employers identified that they use competency frameworks when recruiting. If in a non-competency interview, the scenario examples can add real depth and provide practical examples to support hypothetical answers.
The workshop lasts approximately 4 hours and cover all aspects of interview preparation. We start by demonstrating how to analyse vacancies to help predict likely interview questions, then cover how to structure and prepare potential answers to those questions.
During the workshop we cover:
- company research
- remote and telephone screening interviews
- body language
- CV interviews
- competency / behavioural interviews
- value based interviews
- SBIs (strength based interviews)
- scenario and technical interviews
- unstructured and non-competency based interviews
- questions to ask the interviewer
- body language
- all aspects of preparation
The workshop also allows for individual attendees to gain answers to specific questions they may have been asked and incorporates practical exercises to help focus attendees.
How to deal with the more common question such as the dreaded 'Tell me something about yourself...' supposedly the most hated interview question, along with 'Where do you see yourself in 3 years time? What are your weaknesses? (development areas - being politically correct), What are your strengths? If you had to be a biscuit, what biscuit would you be? - and the more unusual questions.
Underpinning the workshop is a comprehensive interview guide including 270 potential questions and advice on preparing for those questions:
The only interview guide you will ever need...! a 75 page comprehensive professionally printed written guide that has taken over 15 years to perfect, being updated continually.
Note - The workshop charge above assumes on-site delivery. If running the session off-site the venue cost will be charged back at cost and where possible we use venues within charity and third sector organisations.
