With this package we provide the option to meet up for half a day or receive 6 hours of online support accessed over 3 months. The support is totally flexible and can cover job hunting, retirement planning, or self-employment. Our preferred delivery is online as it provides support over a longer period of time rather than a 'one off' half day, although receiving the support face-to-face may be preferred by some people.
When accessing the support online and looking for a new role, the first session of 2 hours covers job hunting, CV critique, feedback on LinkedIn etc. Subsequent sessions cover interview preparation including feedback on prepared scenario based examples to competency based questions. Accessing the support in block of time, there usually is some time to support interview events as they occur.
Typically we may: - Provide advice on writing a CV / CV critique / guidance on completing application forms
- Look at transferable skills and cover skill based CV writing
- Provide guidance on job searching including demonstrating technology such as CV databases
- Help formulate an action plan for the individual to move forward with
- Cover interview technique
Alternatively we may cover a specific area such as:
- In-depth interview support and guidance including interview practice (option to have the practice session videoed)
- Self employment support
- Work in-depth on transferable skills
- Write a CV from scratch with an individual
- Help in preparation for an assessment centre
- Any areas the individual may require support in
- Planning for retirement
CV guidance
During the session we will provide feedback on the individuals CV or demonstrate how to create a CV from scratch. CV writing can be a lengthy process, so we can if preferred, focus entirely upon creating a workable CV for the individual during the half day session.
Transferable skills
If relevant, as part of this process we will also advise on transferable skills along with the advantages of both biographical and functional CV’s.
Job search action plan
Our Consultant will focus the individual upon the best methods / techniques to use in their job search. This may include demonstrating how to upload a CV to a database; create a LinkedIn profile; set up job alerts; write a covering letter; conduct speculative approaches; utilise recruitment agencies effectively; network effectively; plus other support as required.
Interview preparation
A key part of having a positive interview is to predict potential questions in advance and prepare answers. We show you how to do this with a focus upon competency / behavioural based interviews where you are asked to provide examples of what you have done which 60% of interviewers now use. We also cover questions such as: What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? Where do you see yourself in 2 years’ time? Tell me something about yourself? along with general interview preparation and other areas to consider.
Job seekers guides / On-line support internet site
We provide two very comprehensive written guides to support our sessions:
The only job hunting guide you will ever need...!
The only interview guide you will ever need...!
The interview guide includes 270 interview questions with advice on preparing for them. In addition our on-line resource site has further support and guidance including videos on using the STAR technique and body language.
Location for support if taking the face-to-face support
Support is usually delivered within five working days of assignment, held local to the individual in a private meeting room. We utilise Regus business centres predominantly.
